So, you want to display some of those Funko Pops you have collected, but you don’t want to take up too much floor space. Well, have you considered displaying them on the walls? There are several different ways you can go about doing this, and I am going to go through a few options for you.

Consider the Size of Your Funko Pops

Whatever you decide to go with, you want to make sure it is the appropriate size to fit your Funko Pops, and not too small.

Average Dimensions (inches)

4-inch Funko Pops in box 3.5 x 4.5 x 6.25
4-inch Funko Pops out of box 2.5 x 2.5 x 3.75

Obviously, there are different sizes of Funko Pops; however, most of them are the standard 4-inch Pops. Remember, individual Pop sizes may vary.

So, What Are Your Options for Displaying Funko Pops on Your Walls?

Please keep in mind, I am just throwing some suggestions out there. These are not your only options, but I may be able to point you in the right direction.

1. Floating Bookshelves

Floating bookshelves are a great way to go about displaying your Funko Pops on the wall. Clear acrylic mountable shelves seem to be popular. Though these are not specifically designed for Funko Pops, many people display their Pops with them, and they work pretty well. Floating bookshelves can work for opened or unopened Funko Pops—just make sure to pay attention to the dimensions so you get something that suits your needs.

2. Single Floating Stands

If you’re more of minimalist and you prefer a single stand per Funko Pop, this may be the right option for you. With single floating shelves/stands, you will likely only be displaying one Funko Pop per shelf. If you don’t have a lot of space on your walls, or you just don’t want your Funkos taking up too much space, this may be right for you.

3. Mountable Display Cases/Organizers

Some type of mountable display case is going to be an obvious option for displaying your Funko Pops on your walls. What makes a display case different from just standard shelving is the fact that it is more of an enclosure.

With cases, they are going to take up more wall space and are much more noticeable than some of your other options, but if they are aesthetically pleasing to you, that is all that matters.

4. Funko Pop Box Wall Mounts

Were the floating shelves not minimalist enough for you? You can go even more minimalistic with these small wall mounts, which are perfect for mounting your boxed Funko Pops on the walls in such a subtle manner they’ll almost look like they’re floating on your walls.

5. Mountable Display Cabinets

If you are not a minimalist and you have no problem going the expensive route, then a mountable cabinet or case may be an option for you. The nice thing about cabinets is that they can protect your Funko Pops from dust much better than ordinary shelves can. Also, if you can lock your cabinet, that will protect your Funkos from the untrustworthy hands of your young relatives. Plus, display cabinets just look impressive.

Display cabinets and cases come in all different sizes, and many of the shelves in the mountable cabinets I’ve looked at do not have enough depth to house boxed Funko Pops unfortunately. Another drawback is that cabinets can be heavy and cumbersome. Once you hang them, it is much more of a commitment than some of your other options.

At the moment, I don’t have any recommendations for mountable display cabinets.

How Will You Mount the Shelves?

Okay, so how you mount your Funko Pop display(s) will largely depend on the option that you chose. Based on the options I have provided; you’re probably going to be hanging your displays with adhesives or wall anchors.

Adhesives are pretty self-explanatory. The main issue with using adhesives on your walls is the potential of paint peeling when the adhesive is removed. If the potential of paint peeling is not an issue for you, then you should be fine giving the adhesive selves a shot. If paint is a factor, and you are concerned about it peeling off the walls, then you may want to look at something that uses wall anchors instead.

Anchors (or plugs) are used to hang light to somewhat heavy items on your walls when you are unable to drill into the studs. For most of the items I’ve recommended in this post, wall anchors should work fine and should be more than able to hold the shelves.

Here are some videos that will be informative if you don’t know much about how to use wall anchors:

If you are hanging a very heavy display case, you will probably need to drill into the studs to get it hung. I’m no expert in this area, so I recommend reaching out to The Home Depot, or a local home improvement company if you don’t know what you are doing.

For lightweight shelves that only hold one Funko Pops, they may be able to be mounted with adhesives. There are certain situations where you don’t want to use adhesives on your walls since there is the possibility they won’t come off of the walls easily without peeling off paint.

Displaying Opened vs Unopened Funko Pops

Are you displaying opened Funko Pops on your walls, or are they still in their boxes? Some display options you come across online may be suitable for opened Pops but might not be suitable for the boxes. Keep that in mind in case you decide that you want the option to display both opened and unopened Funko Pops.

Hazards to Avoid

When displaying your Funko Pops, there are some hazards you want to avoid—some of these hazards are just annoying, whereas others can be detrimental to your Funk Pops.

  • Dust
  • Sunlight
  • Humidity
  • Dirt
  • Extreme Temperatures

For the most part, dust and dirt are not really a big deal. Obviously, you don’t want your Pops to get dirty, but, if your Funko Pops are just dirty, that can be remedied. If the issue is damage from sunlight, that might be much more difficult to fix. Too much exposure to the sunlight could cause discoloration.

Humidity is more of a problem for boxed Funko Pops than the Funko Pops themselves. The boxes can get damp and warp if there is too much moisture in the air. Humidity should be kept at moderate levels. As a rule of thumb, if its comfortable for you, it is comfortable for your Funko Pops. This same rule can be applied to temperature. Avoid the extremes at all cost! Extreme heat will melt your Funko Pops! Display them somewhere where the temperature will be moderate—between 60 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit (15-23 degrees Celsius) is comfortable for most people and also for your Pops.

What Room Should You Display Them In?

Let’s start off with where you should NOT be displaying them. You should not display your Funko Pops in the attic or in the garage in most cases since the temperature and humidity cannot be regulated. Outside of that, if you display them in the garage, dust and other types of residue will build up on them very quickly.

Most rooms in your home are going to be fine for displaying you Pops—office, bedroom, den, mancave, dining room, etc. The thing you need to ensure is that environmental factors can be regulated. They should not be exposed to direct sunlight and the temperature should remain moderate without too much fluctuation.

If you have a way of protecting your collection from direct sunlight and regulating the temperature and humidity, you should be fine.

Conclusion

When displaying your Funko Pops on the walls, there are two major things you’re going to be thinking about: where you’re going to display them and what you will use. The room or space you choose to display your Funko Pops in should be somewhere where the temperature can remain moderate, humidity levels can be controlled, and sunlight can be blocked. As for how you will display them, I hope I gave you some ideas about what your options are. If you are not satisfied with my suggestions, you can always look elsewhere. At very least, hopefully this was a good starting point.
