Funko Pops have boomed in popularity since their release. They are popular for a few reasons, a major one being that there is probably going to be at least one or two you are interested in, since it seems like every significant character from every significant franchise has their own Funko Pop version of them. For this reason, and their prevalence, you may find yourself with one, or two, or three hundred of these things.

You may have so many Funko Pops that you haven’t got a clue about how to store or arrange them. That’s not a bad problem to have and luckily for you, this article is here to help! I’m going to cover some different things you may want to consider when displaying your Funko Pops and try to help you figure out what display option might be the best for you.

In the Box vs Outside of the Box

Okay, one of the first things you should ask yourself is whether or not the majority of your Funko Pops are opened or unopened. This shouldn’t be too hard of a question for you to answer. Once you’ve got that sorted out, you need to realize that there are going to be some differences between the ways you would display opened Funko Pops vs unopened.

Opened Funko Pops are going to take up less shelf space, however, you will not be able to stack them on top of each other the way you would a bunch of unopened Funko Pops—I have seen literal mountains of unopened Funkos stacked upon each other, and, even as someone who is not all that crazy about them, I must say, its quite the sight to see.

One great method for displaying both opened and unopened Funko Pops is by using tiered acrylic stands. These are especially useful for opened Funko Pops, because, as I said earlier, you can’t exactly stack them on top of each other the way you would unopened Funko Pops. You can set up these stands on shelves, in a bookcase, or in a cabinet, and they will give you both height and depth, so you can display more Funko Pops together in a smaller area.

Likely, you are going to need multiple stands in the case that you have a larger collection. In that case, you can definitely have fun with it and maybe dedicate one stand to Star Wars, another to Game of Thrones, another to Marvel, etc.–however you would like to handle it.

How Many Funko Pops Are You Going to Display?

Are you going to display about three or four different Sith Lords from Star Wars on small wall mounts, or are you planning on displaying a few hundred and taking up an entire wall in your bedroom. There are cool ideas for either scenario, it just depends on what you want. Maybe you want to go with something minimalistic, or maybe you want to go all out and have a mountain of the things. Its all up to you. Just be aware of how many you’re going to be displaying ahead of time.

Where Should You Display Your Funko Pops?

Let’s start off by talking about where you should NOT display your Funko Pop collection. Generally, it’s probably not a good idea to have your Funko Pops in the attic, garage, or basement. The reason for this is because the temperature and humidity cannot be regulated in those locations in most circumstances. If you live somewhere that experiences extreme temperatures, then definitely avoid the attic and garage. There are horror stories you can find online about what happens to Funkos in the extreme heat, and its not pretty. Sure some people will say that they haven’t had problems storing them in the extreme heat, and if you want to take that risk, then go for it, but, based on what I have heard, I wouldn’t recommend it. Be sure to keep your Funkos somewhere where the temperature remains moderate and the humidity can be regulated.

Next environmental factor to consider, and this one is extremely important, is sunlight. Keep them out of the sunlight. The UV rays from the sun will cause fading and discoloration both to the Funko Pop, and to the packaging. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight is probably one of the most common ways Funko Pops (and many other collectables) get ruined. For this reason, you may want to display them in a cabinet that can remain closed when the sunlight is coming in, or just keep the blinds/shades closed. Alternatively, you could just have them displayed in a room that doesn’t get any sunlight, like a closet.

Now that I’ve talked about where not to display them, let’s cover some ideal places to actually display them. Seems to me that the most popular rooms to display your Funko Pops in are home offices, game rooms, and bedrooms. Being that you probably spend a lot of time in these rooms makes these rooms the ideal place to display your Funko Pops. Also, simply from a decorative standpoint, it makes the most sense.

Here’s the thing about any collection, you want to display it somewhere you can easily access and enjoy it. So, once, you have ruled out the environmental factors, then I would start thinking about which room in your home to you feel the most comfortable in—the place where you have the most peace of mind. That is probably the best place to display them.

What Should You Use to Display Your Funko Pops?

Okay, so there are a lot of different options out there from bookshelves to cabinets to wall mounts to rolling shelves to display cases like this one. It really would be impossible for me to cover all of them. What you choose to go with depends entirely on your individual needs as well as personal preferences. That being said, here are some questions I think you should ask yourself before deciding exactly what kind of display case, shelf, cabinet, etc. you’re going with.

  • How many Funko Pops do you need to be able to display?
  • Do you plan on expanding your collection, and, if so, maybe you should start to think ahead of time about where you’re going to display future Funko Pops?
  • What furniture items do you currently have in the room, and do you want something that is going to match them?
  • How much assembly is required for the item your thinking of buying?
  • How heavy is it?
  • How adjustable is it? Can you adjust the height of the shelves?
  • Are you looking for something more fancy, or more practical?
  • If you are getting a glass case display, does it offer UV protection?
  • Do you want to display them on the wall?

Look at Examples Online

Finally, look at examples of Funko Pop collections on Reddit, Instagram, Twitter, and Google Images. See what other people are doing, and get some inspiration. People are doing all kinds of cool things to display their Funko Pop collections. There are so many different ways of displaying them, and getting some inspiration online is a great way for you to find out what you want your collection to look like.

You Need to Find What is Best for You and Your Collection

Okay, so I know I didn’t give you a definitive list of display options, but that wasn’t the point of this article. The point was to better help you search for the best display option for yourself. Go online and get some inspiration, and then ask yourself the questions that I have mentioned above to better help yourself figure out what your method of display is going to be. Also, think about where you’re going to display those Funko Pops—what room are you going to display them in, and is it safe to display them in that room. Think about how you’re going to display them, and get those things set up for the world to see.

If you found this article to be helpful, be sure to check out my post on storing your Funko Pop collection. Once your collection gets so big that its impossible to display all of them, you will need to look into what storage options are available to you, and how you’re going to go about storing them.
